This week we close out the month of September. It is the final full week of the MLB Regular Season and playoff spots are at stake. This past week saw Albert Pujols reach 700 career home runs. All eyes are on Aaron Judge this week as he tries to pass Yankee legend Roger Maris’s 61 home runs. Keep an eye on the Baltimore Orioles and Milwaukee Brewers as they try to steal the final playoff spot in each league. The NHL starts preseason play this week and the season a couple weeks after.
The end of September also bring s close to the majority of non-conference college football games. Going forward, every game is magnified and has a significant impact on the conference races as well as the College Football Playoff. The majority of conferences are led by The Who’s who, except for the BIG 12, which is led by Kansas.
The NFL has witnessed a crazy 3 weeks so far. The Raiders, Titans, Colts, Saints, Panthers, Bengals and Steelers have been underwhelming. On the other hand, the Jaguars, Giants, Dolphins, Bills, Eagles and Buccaneers have been very impressive. As we turn to October, I expect the quality of play to improve vastly and that is saying something considering all of the great finishes.
