Jockey Luis Saez experienced the exhilaration of winning the Kentucky Derby in 2019, only to have his victory snatched away after a mere 22 minutes due to an interference call during the race. Despite this heart-wrenching turn of events, Saez has continued to compete in the iconic race, though he has not yet claimed the coveted title. As the 2023 Kentucky Derby approaches, Saez finds himself facing a challenging decision.
Over time, Saez has established strong connections with two formidable horses, Instant Coffee and Tapit Trice, both of which possess the potential to triumph in the prestigious event. As the renowned jockey prepares for the 149th Run for the Roses, he must ultimately decide which of these contenders he will ride. Fortunately, Saez has one remaining race on each horse to help him make this critical choice.
While I don’t claim to be a horse racing expert, I’m confident in placing my bets on Luis Saez, regardless of the horse he selects. Despite never having officially won the renowned race, it’s difficult to discount the abilities of one of the sport’s most accomplished jockeys. Personally, I’m hoping Saez opts to ride Instant Coffee in the upcoming Kentucky Derby, based on the horse’s intriguing name alone.
