THIS WEEK IN SPORTS: MAY 1ST — 7TH

The NFL Draft has wrapped up and now those selections make their way to Rookie Mini Camps across the league. The eyes of the sports world turn to Louisville, Kentucky and Miami respectively. It is Kentucky Derby Week and thousands will be flocking to Churchill Downs. If you need help discovering which horses to wager on or even how to review a horse racing betting card, tune into the Photo Finish Podcast. Our buddy Stevo will get you prepared for the Derby and every race of the Triple Crown. You can find the Photo Finish Podcast here on SpinnableSports.com or via the Spinnable Sports YouTube Channel. The other premier even this week is the F1 Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium. The NBA & NHL Playoffs emerge from the First Round matchups and head to the 2nd Round. The NBA Playoffs no longer include the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Memphis Grizzlies and others. The Tampa Bay Lightning will not be going to their 4th straight Stanley Cup Finals after being defeated by Toronto. Speaking of the Maple Leafs, their series victory was their first playoff series win since 2004. Another shocker in the Stanley Cup Playoffs was the early departures by Boston & Colorado. Major League Baseball closes the first month of play with the Rays and Pirates being the only clubs with 20 plus victories. The MLS season continues to build momentum. The European Leagues are in the final stretch toward crowing champions and assigning spots in Champions League and Europa League action for next year.
