The sports calendar tends to slow to a halt in early July, but it does signal the last month without football games until March. Until NFL Training Camps open in a few weeks; Major League Baseball, MLS, and Wimbledon have the spotlight to themselves. This week isn’t deprived of excitement, so in addition to celebrating America’s birthday, enjoy the action noted below.
NFL:
- No games or Training Camps this week, but the DeShaun Watson drama, Baker Mayfield saga and other questions still remain unanswered.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
- Last week saw a landscape altering announcement of USC and UCLA leaving the PAC 12 for the B1G. Tune into The Irrational Confidence Podcast (@IRConfidencePod) for our immediate reaction.
- Buckle up for reactionary moves by the PAC 12 , ACC, and possibly other schools like Notre Dame, Oregon, and Washington, among others.
NHL:
- The NHL Draft is Thursday, July 7th

WIMBLEDON:
- The Round of 16 commences from the All England Lawn and Tennis Club as the tournament moves toward crowing the champions. You can catch all the action live on ESPN/ ESPN2/ ABC and the Tennis Channel all week. It is the 100th anniversary of Centre Court.
- Women’s Final is on Saturday, July 9th at 9am EST
- Men’s Final is on Sunday, July 10th at 9am EST
