Elway said he was going to stay quiet, but he simply cannot let the slander continue. Despite admitting to looking disheveled and uninterested during the 2019 interview with Flores, Elway makes it clear this was directly due to the difficult circumstances he had to endure in order to accommodate the only time Flores made available.

I find it interesting that Elway admits to appearing disheveled and uninterested, but then he immediately tries to twist the blame to Brian Flores:
“For Brian to make an assumption about my appearance and state of mind early that morning was subjective, hurtful and just plain wrong. If I appeared ‘disheveled,’ as he claimed, it was because we had flown in during the middle of the night — immediately following another interview in Denver — and were going on a few hours of sleep to meet the only window provided to us.”

Rather than apologizing and admitting any sort of fault, Elway instead decided to fire back and claim that Flores is somehow responsible for Elway’s own unprofessionalism.

I’m sure when John Elway decided it was time to address the Brian Flores situation his intention was not to come off looking like an arrogant asshole, but that’s exactly what happened.
