NFL WEEK 1: SUNDAY RAPID REACTION

WOW…what a Sunday Week 1 to kickoff the 2022 campaign. We had last second field goals, upsets and all world players making plays. As exciting as the full slate of games were, some things like the Jets, Falcons, Lions and Jags losing the opening game stay the same. In addition to this excitement, the Colts and Texans went to overtime and the game resulted in a tie. The Bears used the torrential rain in the Windy City to fuel an upset of the 49ers.

Number 1 overall selection Travon Walker had a stellar second half. He totaled 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 passes defenses and 1 interception. He showed up and almost gave them enough to surge the Jags to victory. The second overall pick Aiden Hutchinson did not have the same impact totaling 1 tackle in the Lions loss to the Eagles. Another rookie had a chance to burst on the scene, but then Packers wide receiver Christian Watson dropped a walk in 70 plus yard touchdown. He was not targeted again until very late in the 4th quarter. It will be interesting to see who grows up for Week 2.

The Steelers / Bengals game was beyond insane. Minkah Fitzpatrick opened the festivities with a Pick 6. The Steelers didn’t stop there, sacking Joe Burrow 7 times and forcing him to fumble and throw 3 other picks. There were missed field goals galore and Fitzpatrick made sure it went to OT by blocking the potential game winning extra point with 2 seconds left in regulation. The Browns decided not to lose in Week 1 for the first time in over 18 years by hitting a game winning field game to beat Baker and the Panthers. The Falcons were leading the entire time until they blew their lead and allowed the Saints to win it at the buzzer.
